1st Year Teacher
Welcome to Teaching!!!
Everywhere I turn, I find myself lost amidst "Professionals" who all have an opinion on how things "should" be done. While I appreciate being given teaching philosophies and trophy programs that I need to implement, I am still a first year teacher. For those out there who are first year teachers and want input on how to manage the stresses of life and teaching while successfully surviving your first year, you have come to the right place.
While I am technically a first year teacher, I have more experience than most under my belt. I am not perfect by any means, but that in turn is the reason I have created this hub. I plan to share what I have learned from my experience thus far and continue to learn through my first year experience for those who are finding themselves trudging through first-year decision-making.
Content:
A. My Experience----Don’t dismiss this section; it will help you to understand why what I have to share is worthwhile and what makes it unique to that of other education websites.
B. Life Advice----If you are wrestling with balancing your new life, this is a great place to start.
C. Classroom Requirements----Schools will load your plate to the max with strategies to be implemented, and then, they follow it up with giving you “Constructive Feedback” for your classroom management. This is only the beginning. How to Deal--
D. Planning----Suck it up. You have to do it. Do not worry; it will not take away from your lifeline. You want the answer to 70% of the educator’s battle, read here.
E. Classroom Management----If planning is 70% of the battle, Classroom Management is 40%. It is 20% of Planning and 20% in the classroom.
F. Staff Relationships----IF 70% Planning + 20% in the Classroom management = 90 %, Then, the difference = 10% = Staff Relations’
G. 2nd Year Teaching----80% Less Work x 2nd Year = 160% Easier
I am still in the process of working on my Hubs, but I hope you find what I intend to introduce as useful. Bookmark this Hub, and revisit in about a week.
Sincerely,
The New Teacher
